The Situation
VERTO is an award winning, not-for-profit organisation assisting businesses and individuals with all their apprenticeship, employment and training needs with over 40 locations across New South Wales, Victoria, and the Australian Capital Territory.
An ageing SharePoint on-premise server which was had reached its end of life.
The issue surpassed more than the ageing operating system it relied on or the SharePoint Server version that it was running. The UX was designed a decade prior and its audience was not using the solution to its potential.
The extensibility was limited and so IT did not have many options to extend the solution to more than a simple intranet.
The Solution
It was important that staff could intuitively find the information without relying on help.
Developing a new SharePoint Online experience in Microsoft 365 for Verto entailed migrating the data in a way so that navigation in the new UI would not be counter productive.
Making sure that the information was more secure and quicker than the previous solution would also provide Verto with the confidence that SharePoint Online would meet their requirements over the next 10 years.
After a thorough audit of the existing SharePoint Server, a site by site plan was developed. SharePoint Server data was migrated to SharePoint Online with a freshly designed UI without impacting day to day operations.
Advanced features of Microsoft 365 were used to improve security and compliance of Verto data.
A CDN was used to make sure that Verto staff would get the best possible user experience no matter where in Australia it was accessed from.
